May the Force (Fourth) be with all of us as we welcome this new busy month!
As we enter the month of May, we are truly amazed at all the growth the children have exhibited this year. Child Assessments and Parent Conferences are wrapping up and we are pleased to acknowledge that so many developmental milestones have been realized.
If your child will be leaving at the end of the month, please note we will need a two week notice of withdrawal. Please open up the AEA App, select Child Profile, scroll down until you see the word "unenroll" on the right hand side. Select this link. You will be taken to a page to select your child's last day (must be a Friday) and provide a reason for withdrawal. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about this process or need additional assistance.
This month we will celebrate our Teachers through the annual Teacher Appreciation Week from May 4th-8th. We are traveling across the USA from New York City, to San Francisco, with daily "stops" indifferent cities. Please refer to the newsletter attachment if you would like suggestions for small teacher gifts if you are interested. Additionally, the Teacher Favorites pages are posted in the lobby.
Our Muffins with Moms Events will take place on May 11th for Rooms 1-6 and on May 12th for Rooms 7-13. Both events will take place from 8:00 am-10:00 am. We want to ensure an understanding that any parent is welcome to attend with the child. If a parent is unavailable, another relative is welcome to stand in and attend with the child. We realize coordinating time with work to attend events can often be difficult and we do not want any child to feel left out.
VPK Prom will take place on Friday, May 15th from 6:45pm-8:00 pm for Classrooms 9, 10, 12 & 13. We ask that one, but no more than two, parents attend with their child. This event is not for siblings or other family members. The space is very tight and this event is a special one for our Graduates. This is likely the one and only time you will be able to attend your child's Prom and we hope you have a wonderful time together. Snacks will be available for the children. However, please keep in mind that we will not be serving dinner. Children should dress to impress while remaining comfortable enough for dancing and having fun. We will offer on-site childcare for younger and older siblings. Please sign up via the Sign-Up Genius specifically designed for this purpose. We need a count by May 8th to coordinate with our teachers, determining the necessary number of teachers and classrooms.
Our next Parent Committee Meeting will take place on Monday, May 18th from 4:30 pm-5:30 pm. We encourage everyone to attend to learn about our summer plans, transitions, and the upcoming 2026-2027 program year. We hope to see everyone there!
AEA Hamlin will be closed on Monday May 25th in honor of the Memorial Day Holiday.
As we close out the month, we will honor our 2026 VPK Graduates with Graduation Ceremonies scheduled as follows:
Wednesday, May 27th @ 1:00 pm~ Room #13 VPK Only: Ms.Laura & Ms. Glenda
Wednesday, May 27th @ 4:30 pm~ Room #9: Ms. Lydianie &Ms. Viviana

*We are a Nut-Free facility. Please note we do not allow nuts, or products containing nuts, into our program. This is for the safety of all our children*
If your child is bringing food to school, for allergy or dietary needs, it is important to remember that the food you send should be similar to what we offer on our menus. Food items must be healthy alternatives like what we provide in our program. We cannot accept or serve items such as Candy, Chocolate, Potato Chips, Juices, flavored drinks or sugary drinks, cupcakes, chocolate cookies such as oreos, nuts, etc. Meal items such as "Lunchables" tend to have a candy or a chocolate cookie as one of the options. Please be aware of what is in your child's lunch box choices and ensure that their choices are aligning with balanced dietary options.
It is important that you take into account that we have an agreement with Nemours Hospital. That is why our menus include foods that cover daily nutritional needs. Meals include a variety of foods and complete menus can be found each month in the main office and are posted in each classroom. Please note that some items may be substituted due to availability or seasons and for children with special dietary needs.
We never force a child to finish what they have on their plate but do encourage each child to try a bite or two of everything. Sometimes they are surprised by what they like!

Incident/Accident Report: Any incidents/accidents needing documentation

The health of our children and staff is very important at Amazing Explorers Academy. By monitoring each child’s health status on a daily basis, teachers are able to maintain a safe environment for the entire class. Symptoms we will be monitoring for are:
Changes in behavior or appearance.
Any skin rashes and itchy skin or scalp.
Any boils or weeping skin rashes.
Signs of fever, such as flushed appearance or shivering.
Complaints of pain or not feeling well.
Vomiting, diarrhea, or drainage from eyes.
When a child has been exposed to a harmful communicable disease.
A fever: 100.4°F or higher
Head lice or nits, until after treatment has begun.
Streptococcal pharyngitis (i.e., strep throat or other streptococcal infection).
Scabies, until after treatment has begun.
Chickenpox (varicella).
Impetigo
Pertussis (i.e., whooping cough) (We follow the direction of the health department).
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (We follow the direction of the health department).
Tuberculosis (We follow the direction of the health department).
Hepatitis A virus infection (We follow the direction of the health department).
If a child should become ill during the day a parent will be notified and the child is given the opportunity to rest or play quietly in a separate area until an authorized person arrives. Parents will have forty-five minutes (45 min) from the time the school calls to pick up their sick child or make arrangements for an authorized person to pick up. Parents are expected to remain in communication with the school regarding the pickup. Children who are sent home will not be readmitted until they are symptom free for 24 hours. A physician note may be required certifying that the child is not a health risk and is able to participate and return to school. Also, any child or staff member who contracts a communicable disease will take the necessary precautions. We will notify you as soon as possible as well as the local health department as required by law.
We want to ensure the wellbeing for all our children and staff members, so please monitor your child's illnesses and keep them home if they aren't feeling well to lessen the spread. Thank you for always supporting us and entrusting us with your babies! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

We encourage our three year olds and up to wear the AEA uniform
which can be purchased through the school. Closed toed shoes or
sneakers are also required of everyone. For safety reasons NO
open toe shoe, Crocs or sandals are allowed. Please take into
consideration current weather conditions, as well as the
unexpected changes in the weather that may necessitate a change
in apparel. It is appropriate and required by our licensing agency to
allow outside activity for all ages of children and we want to ensure
they are properly dressed for the weather.
