April 2026 Newsletter

Dear AEA Hamlin Families,

As we welcome April, we will be learning about transportation.  We will focus on different modes of transportation from Land Transport to Space Transport.  Our culminating experience, "Transportation Day," will take place on Friday April 24th from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm.  If you can volunteer a vehicle for the site that day, please sign up at the front desk.  We are looking for cars, trucks, boats, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, different types of bicycles and any other types of transportation vehicles.  We encourage you to take your child around the parking lot to see all the vehicles and to take a ride on the Train that will be here for that purpose.

We will host the annual Spring Egg Hunt on Friday, April 3rd.  Please see the attached schedule.  Thank you for all your donations of pre-filled eggs.  The children are already very excited for this day to arrive!  For those who have asked if we need volunteers that day, we appreciate you!  However, we do not need volunteers because the process is well organized.  This year Ms. Mayela, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Amber will place the eggs on the playgrounds for each group.

The Week of the Young Child will be celebrated from April 13th through April 17th.  Please see the calendar and flyers for each themed day. The children can dress up to represent the theme of the day!

Parent Teacher Conferences begin on April 20th and will continue into May for our VPK Classrooms. Sign-up sheets will be placed on your child's classroom door.

Our BOGO Book Fair will take place from April 20th through April 24th.

Please see the calendar for more information.

Have a wonderful month ahead!

Warm Regards,

Lisette Raynor & Mayela Blanco

Important Information

*We are a Nut-Free facility.  Please note we do not allow nuts, or products containing nuts, into our program.  This is for the safety of all our children*

If your child is bringing food to school, for allergy or dietary needs, it is important to remember that the food you send should be similar to what we offer on our menus. Food items must be healthy alternatives like what we provide in our program. We cannot accept or serve items such as Candy, Chocolate, Potato Chips, Juices, flavored drinks or sugary drinks, cupcakes, chocolate cookies such as oreos, nuts, etc. Meal items such as "Lunchables" tend to have a candy or a chocolate cookie as one of the options. Please be aware of what is in your child's lunch box choices and ensure that their choices are aligning with balanced dietary options.

It is important that you take into account that we have an agreement with Nemours Hospital. That is why our menus include foods that cover daily nutritional needs. Meals include a variety of foods and complete menus can be found each month in the main office and are posted in each classroom. Please note that some items may be substituted due to availability or seasons and for children with special dietary needs.

We never force a child to finish what they have on their plate but do encourage each child to try a bite or two of everything. Sometimes they are surprised by what they like!

Health and Safety Guideline Reminders

The health of our children and staff is very important at Amazing Explorers Academy. By monitoring each child’s health status on a daily basis, teachers are able to maintain a safe environment for the entire class. Symptoms we will be monitoring for are:

  • Changes in behavior or appearance.

  • Any skin rashes and itchy skin or scalp.

  • Any boils or weeping skin rashes.

  • Signs of fever, such as flushed appearance or shivering.

  • Complaints of pain or not feeling well.

  • Vomiting, diarrhea, or drainage from eyes.

  • When a child has been exposed to a harmful communicable disease.

  • A fever: 100.4°F or higher

  • Head lice or nits, until after treatment has begun.

  • Streptococcal pharyngitis (i.e., strep throat or other streptococcal infection).

  • Scabies, until after treatment has begun.

  • Chickenpox (varicella).

  • Impetigo

  • Pertussis (i.e., whooping cough) (We follow the direction of the health department).

  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (We follow the direction of the health department).

  • Tuberculosis (We follow the direction of the health department).

  • Hepatitis A virus infection (We follow the direction of the health department).

If a child should become ill during the day a parent will be notified and the child is given the opportunity to rest or play quietly in a separate area until an authorized person arrives. Parents will have forty-five minutes (45 min) from the time the school calls to pick up their sick child or make arrangements for an authorized person to pick up. Parents are expected to remain in communication with the school regarding the pickup. Children who are sent home will not be readmitted until they are symptom free for 24 hours. A physician note may be required certifying that the child is not a health risk and is able to participate and return to school. Also, any child or staff member who contracts a communicable disease will take the necessary precautions. We will notify you as soon as possible as well as the local health department as required by law.

We want to ensure the wellbeing for all our children and staff members, so please monitor your child's illnesses and keep them home if they aren't feeling well to lessen the spread. Thank you for always supporting us and entrusting us with your babies! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Appropriate Dress for School

We encourage our three year olds and up to wear the AEA uniform

which can be purchased through the school. Closed toed shoes or

sneakers are also required of everyone. For safety reasons NO

open toe shoe, Crocs or sandals are allowed. Please take into

consideration current weather conditions, as well as the

unexpected changes in the weather that may necessitate a change

in apparel. It is appropriate and required by our licensing agency to

allow outside activity for all ages of children and we want to ensure

they are properly dressed for the weather.
